VitalQIP Release 7.0 General Availability

July 12, 2006 .. Lucent Technologies has announced the release of VitalQIP Release 7.0, which will become generally available in July 2006.

This release focuses on managing IPv6 address space, as well as enhancing the overall user experience.

With today's increased focus on converged technologies, the acceleration of Voice over IP (VoIP) and IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS), fast, easy and reliable administration of IP addresses and Domain Name System services is quickly becoming a critical management issue. Couple this with the introduction of IPv6 into network environments, and significant challenges are created for even the most seasoned and experienced professionals and organisations.

VitalQIP release 7.0 will deliver unmatched flexibility. With the introduction of this next generation platform, customers can provision IPv6 management, and at the same time maintain IPv4 to support dual stacked environments. In addition, VitalQIP Release 7.0 introduces a number of features focused on enhancing the overall user experience, including:

a new web-based GUI
enhanced navigation capabilities
new APIs for tighter integration
enhanced reporting functions

to provide users with a next generation platform that will take them into the future with improved efficiency and flexibility.

VitalQIP Release 7.0 will initially only be available on Solaris and Oracle platforms, with additional platform support following later on in the year.We will keep you updated as new releases become available. Additionally you can visit our

Withdrawal of Support VitalQIP Releases 6.0 & 6.0SP1

This updates the original advice issued in June 2005, as Lucent has now withdrawn support for VitalQIP 6.0 & 6.0SP1.

n3k will continue to be able to support you on a 'best effort basis', but any new faults discovered in the product will not be fixed by Lucent - the response will be that you should upgrade to a supported version.

Discontinued Availability (DA) for VitalQIP Releases 6.1 & 6.1SP1

Lucent has also announced DA for VitalQIP Release 6.1 and 6.1SP1. Customers are asked to upgrade to VitalQIP Release 6.2 as soon as possible or by June 30 2007 at the latest. At that date support for these releases will no longer be available.

To summarise, between June 30 2006 and June 30 2007:

Feature enhancements on Release 6.1 and 6.1SP1 will no longer be available
Software Updates (collections of Software Patches) will no longer be generally available, but may be handled on a case-by-case basis
Phone support and Software Patches (minor modifications to address a specific problem) will continue to be available

After June 30 2007 support for VitalQIP Releases 6.1 and 6.1SP1 will no longer be available.
